Pat is an experienced immigration and corporate law attorney. He focuses his practice on the representation of diverse corporate and private clients, ranging from established leaders in their industries to small start-up companies and individuals.  He counsels his clients on immigration issues (employment, family and investment-based petitions), as well as on corporate matters (formation, registration and transactions).  

 

Immigration:  Pat represents diverse corporate and individual clients in U.S. immigration law, regulations, policy and compliance. He also advises clients on immigration strategy and preparation of petitions in employment-based nonimmigrant (H-1B, L-1A/B) and Legal Permanent Resident (“Green Card”) categories in order to facilitate the employment of foreign workers (EB-1, EB-2, EB-3).  He counsels investors and entrepreneurs on investment visa options (E-1/2 trader and investor visas) and advises individual clients on nonimmigrant categories (H, J, O, P), as well as family-based Legal Permanent Resident (“Green Card”) and citizenship petitions. 

 

Corporate:  Pat assists companies in setting up businesses in the United States and the European Union.  He counsels clients on the formation of various corporate entities, negotiates commercial contracts and other transactional matters as they relate to clients’ corporate activities and advises clients on the legal aspects and strategy of potential partnerships, mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures.

 

Pat started his legal career in the Washington office of Arnold & Porter LLP and then moved to Barkats & Associates, Chartered where he was named Partner.  In addition, he served as Of Counsel at the Attentive Law Group, PLLC.  He is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia and New Jersey, and is a Solicitor in England & Wales and Lawyer in Greece.  He is an active member of the Federal Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association and The Law Society of England and Wales, United Kingdom.
